Urolithiasis affects 1-5% of population with higher incidence in developing countries. It has been hypothesized that diet and lifestyle becomes an important etiological factor and objective of the study to find out the same in the present study. The study design is retrospective and sample size is around 100 patients of kidney stone, either newly diagnosed or patient with reoccurrence as per selection criteria. It has been hypnotized that diet containing rich uric acid, calcium, oxalic acid increases the chance of occurrence of kidney stone. The mean value of score of food, which increases risk of occurrence of kidney stone, is 19.62 out of 40 and mean value of score of food, which decreases risk of occurrence of kidney stone is 14.58 out of 40. Thus, it has been found from the study that there is some significant correlation between the dietary habit and the occurrence of kidney stone. It has been hypnotized that life style with less work also play an important role in to occurrence of kidney stone, but as per the result of study the ratio of patients having Hard : Normal : Less :Very Less working habit is respectively 33:41:12:14. So, it has not confirmed that the obesity and life style with less physical work increases the risk of kidney stone. Some other parameters like less water consumption or drinking water without filtration by ceramic filters or Reverse Osmosis system can increases or decreases risk of occurrences of kidney stone significantly....
Paracetamol is an important drug in the category of analgesic & antipyretic used in treatment of acute pain, But yet many of us know little pharmacokinetics. The determination of pharmacokinetics of the drug is the determination of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) time course of drug and how it is related to pharmacological activity of drug such as its therapeutic and toxic activity. The determination of drug concentration in saliva as an alternative body fluid for pharmacokinetic determination is widely accepted now days. It is mainly suitable for geriatric and pediatric patient as it can be collected easily with minimal patient discomfort and obtained on multiple occasions. The determination of drug concentration in saliva has been employed for therapeutic drug monitoring and measurement of various pharmacokinetic parameters, which can provide knowledge of patient-specific pharmacokinetic parameters leading to improved therapy. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of model drug in saliva when administered in different media like water, milk, juice and to measure the concentration in the saliva in healthy volunteers....
In the present paper a methodology for the fine control of modern linear accelerator generated MV photon beam to provide adequate dose distribution on the irregular surface of a superficial region on the patient body using indigenously design bolus has been reported. In this report a radiotherapy case study of a patient in which a right eye lid tumor infiltrating towards outer canthus area (orbital plasamacytoma) was treated with modern radiotherapy technique (intensity modulated radiotherapy) by using wet- cotton bolus . The bolus gives adequate dose coverage on the superficial tumor area. The plan was designed by pinnacle radiotherapy treatment planning system and measured the dose by using perpex phantom with ionization chamber and also by film dosimeter. The result obtained is found to be good agreement with the recommended value with a deviation limit of +/- 5%. The patient was treated three years back in the research centre, now it is found that the patient is living clinically disease free survival with regular follow up. Though the particular case addressed belongs to the orbital plasmacytoma, the technique is also useful for the treatment of other sites as well. Hence, the present work is interesting and useful for the medical physics community in general and radiation-health physicists in particular....
